Abstract
Objective: To describe knowledge and practice in sharp injuries prevention of nurses in Lam Dong General Hospital in 2019.
Method: Cross-sectional description, interviews to assess knowledge and observations to evaluate preventive practice of sharp injuries.
Results: In terms of knowledge, only 20,8% know all 6 causes of sharp injuries, 29,5% of nurses believe that sharp injuries can be completely prevented and 39,6% know the maximum container capacity sharp is ¾, 45% know about sharp injury treatment process and 35,6% know about the time to start post-exposure prophylaxis of HIV (PEP). In terms of practice, 36,9% of nurses practiced 13/13 items, only 45,6% of nurses used cotton and gauze to break the glass tube, 41,6% participants wore gloves when injected and 30,2% used both hands to close the lid injection.
Conclusion: Much of the knowledge and practice are low and need to be improved.
