Abstract
Objective: Assessment of undesirable effects due to double-J stent after upstream endoscopic ureteral litholysis to patients.
Method: A cross-sectional descriptive studies were performed on 102 patients after retrograde endoscopic ureteral lithotripsy with double-J stent. Patients were asked to answer questions about urinary symptoms and physical pain at 4 weeks after a double-J stent.
Results: Average score for urinary symptoms 28.62 ± 5.87(total 54 points). Up to 87.3% of patients with haematuria from occasional to most of the time. Average physical pain score 18.36 ± 3.44 (total 27 points), most patients feel pain after insertion of double-J stent (94.1%), the most painful position is the kidney back area accounts for 60.8%.
Conclusion: Double-J stent after retrograde endoscopic ureterolysis is the cause of many undesirable effects, which negatively affect the general condition and quality of life of the patient.
