Abstract
Objective: To describe the knowledge of postpartum care among mothers and some related factors at the Obstetrics Department, Vinmec Times City International Hospital in 2025.
Methods: A cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted on 251 postpartum women from January to April 2025. Data were collected through a self-designed questionnaire consisting of 23 multiple-choice questions on personal hygiene, nutrition, breastfeeding, physical activity/rest, and family planning.
Results: The proportion of mothers who met the required knowledge level (≥18/23 points) was 43.8%. High correct response rates were found in personal hygiene (76.1%), breastfeeding (76.5%), and postoperative nutrition (49.0%). Knowledge regarding physical activity/rest (9.6%) and family planning (10.0%) remained significantly low. Socio-demographic factors were not significantly associated with mothers’ general knowledge of postpartum care (p < 0.05).
Conclusion: Mothers’ knowledge of postpartum care remains moderate overall, with notable gaps in areas such as physical activity and family planning. Tailored and continuous health education programs are essential to improve postpartum care outcomes.
