Abstract
Objectives: To describe the current situation of occupational stress risk among nurses at E Hospital in 2024; To identify some factors associated with the risk of occupational stress among nurses at E Hospital.
Methods: A cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted from April 2024 to July 2024 on 244 nurses working in clinical departments at E Hospital, randomly selected and interviewed using the Expand Nursing Stress Scale (ENSS) instrument.
Results: 100% of nurses were at risk of stress: low risk (70.1%), moderate risk (29.5%), and high risk (0.4%). The mean stress risk score was 1.71 ± 0.39 on a 4-point scale. Nurses working in Internal Medicine departments had the highest mean occupational stress risk score (1.78 ± 0.39), followed by Surgery-Obstetrics (1.72 ± 0.38), and Specialty Departments (1.44 ± 0.26) (p < 0.05). Nurses with a university degree or higher, those directly providing patient care, and those with a negative attitude toward their work had higher mean stress risk scores compared to other groups (p < 0.05).
Conclusion: The majority of nurses had low to moderate levels of occupational stress risk. Factors related to stress risk among nurses included: professional qualification, department of work, job position, engagement in more than one task, and attitude toward the nursing profession.
