Abstract
Objective: To assess the results change ability caregivers’ practice of motor rehabilitation for stroke patients after an educational intervention in Quang Ninh General Hospital in 2017.
Method: The one group pre-test and post-test educational intervention was designed and performed among 54 informal care gives. The same observation with check list was used to assess the results for both before and after the intervebtion.
Results: After the intervention, the practical skills of caregivers of motor rehabilitation for stroke patients improved considerablely, demonstrated in-the mean score of practice went up to 31.56 ± 2.38 points compared with 17.37 ± 4.01 points before the intervention (p value of0.001). In which, the mean score of skills for posture care was 10.56 ± 2.82points before the intervention, increased to18.30 ±1.96 points after the intervention. The percentage of caregivers having standardized practical skills, in total, was only 5.6% before the intervention, rised up to 98.1% after the intervention.
Conclusion: The intervention in the study did improve the practical skills of caregivers of motor rehabilitation for stroke patients. The research also revealed the significace of direct instruction by nurses for caregivers and should be carried out regularly.
