Abstract
Objectives: To describe the self-efficacy in clinical skill practice among nursing students at Duy Tan university in 2025 and identify related factors.
Method: A cross-sectional study was conducted among 215 nursing students of Duy Tan University. The Nursing Clinical Self-Efficacy Scale (NCSES) was used to assess the self-efficacy of nursing students in clinical practice skills.
Results: 76.3% of students had moderate confidence, and 23.7% had high confidence. Some factors related to self-efficacy include age, academic year, academic performance, clinical internship location, the number of medical facilities where students have practiced, preference for studying nursing, companionship and support from lecturers and nurses, and students’ perceptions of teachers’ presence in the clinical area (p < 0.05).
Conclusion: Most nursing students demonstrated moderate self-efficacy in clinical skill performance. Enhancing support from clinical instructors, nurses, along with fostering a positive clinical learning environment, is essential to improving self-efficacy among nursing students.
