After completing the intervention one month, the mean score went up to 15.20 ±2.85 points and retained with 14.48 ± 3.27 points at three months later completing the intervention (p values of 0.001). The patients who performed properly all 6 contents of adherence was only 5% before the intervention, then increased to 28% after the intervention one month and maintained at 26% at three months later.
Conclusion: The patients’ adherence to therapies of diabetes mellitus type 2 was limited before the educational intervention and improved significantly after the intervention. The results of this study show clearly effects of the health educational program applied in the study for the patients and should be conducted regularly.
